A superb ash protector or priest, scratch carved with various patterns, the heavy club top has a crown with GR and potted plants and stars. A rare and tactile piece of folk art with a wonderful patina. As to which King George it is alluding to is unclear as the carving is naive and does not conform to any particular fashion. but it is almost certainly eighteenth century.
