Slipware mozaic dish

£450.00

A wonderful dish made from a mosaic of C18th slipware pieces mounted on a pewter dish. The fragments are likely to have been dug up, possibly from the grounds of a pottery workshop as they all seem to be of similar date. A pie crust edge has been formed around the edge to finish the piece. It is likely to have been put together in the early to mid 20th century when slipware pottery was becoming highly prized. A wonderful, decorative and highly individual piece of folk art with historic significance.
